Demo Reel for March 2009
March 3rd, 2009 | Life, Projects, after effects | Topher | 4 CommentsSo, I know a big thing that has been missing from my site has been a demo reel, but I haven’t had that much stuff that was useable and worth putting into a demo reel, due to the fact that in the last year I have made the transition from editor to motion graphics and vfx. But finally I got some good enough stuff to stick in it, so it makes it worth watching. So go ahead and check it out. Leave me feedback on what you think, and what I can do to improve it!

Improvements needed, Drop the Video-copilot head explosion, it just shows that you can follow a tutorial and doesn’t show your AE creativity. Some of the Typography is nice but is a little slow – speed them up 15%ish or cut dead space to give them some energy and impact. The tune is slow, boring and should go. Try and trim it all down to about one and a half minutes in length. Look at some of the good reels by known vfx people, try and figure out why their reels “rock” and imitate them. I read that your an editor and those sections of your reel at excellent – well edited and color graded etc. Try to use those skills more on vfx footage.
